Aspergillus terreus
Aspergillus terreus on three media: CBS, a malt extract recipe; CYA, Czapek Yeast extract agar; CZ, Czapek Solution Agar after 7 days at 25°C. This is a soil organism that could occasionally be confused with ochre aspergilli especially on DG18 owing to its buff colouration. However, this is a fungus with a diminutive size and slow growth. Conidial heads are strictly columnar, as in the photo above, and it is more or less, strictly a soil organism. Though this species produces patulin, Penicillium expansum and other Aspergillus species are much more important in commodities.
